Refreshing Orange Jelly With Mint


1 kg oranges
2 tbsp sugar
1 box powdered orange gelatine
1 tbsp fresh mint, finely chopped


Serves: 6


1. Wash and then dry oranges well with cotton cloth. Curve the orange skins longitudinally and peel oranges. Pick the orange skins and slice them longitudinally in 2 mm thin strips and let them dry well.

2. Squeeze an orange, collect its juice in a small saucepan, and add two tablespoons of sugar. Place the saucepan on oven ring and bring the syrup to the boil. Then toss in the orange strips along with the mint. Lower heat to simmer for 5-6 minutes. Remove the orange strips with a perforated spoon and place them in a colander to drain.

3. Pick a shallow baking tin (plastic or metalic). Slice the peeled oranges in rings and layer them in the tin. Scatter the thin orange strips over the orange rings. Pour in the syrup and orange gelatine (dissolved in a glass of cold water).

4. Empty the syrup and gelatin in the tin. Place the tin in the refrigerator to chill for at least 8 hours and then serve.
